Rocker Melissa Etheridge was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, and has been an inspiration ever since. In 2005, the singer, sans hair from chemotherapy treatments, performed on the Grammy Awards with Joss Stone. That performance of Janis Joplin’s “Piece of my Heart” kick started Etheridge’s war against breast cancer. The singer recently wrote and recorded the song “I Run for Life,” which serves as an anthem for the fight. Proceeds will go toward two breast cancer charities. The single is available exclusively through the iTunes Music Store for .99 cents. Royalties from Melissa’s “Greatest Hits The Road Less Traveled” cd, on which the song appears, will also benefit charities.
